Introducing our esteemed board of advisors. At the Wings to Fly Initiative (WFI), our mission to create lasting positive change within the refugee community has taken a remarkable stride forward. We are delighted to officially introduce two extraordinary individuals who have joined our ranks as esteemed board advisors. Their profound expertise, unwavering dedication, and deep-rooted passion for refugee empowerment have already begun to shape new horizons for our organisation.
Hans – Board of Advisors: Fostering Resilience and Inspiring Generosity
Hans, a remarkable force in our journey, brings to the table a wealth of experience that stems from his relentless commitment to the betterment of refugees’ lives.
With a background steeped in music and education, Hans’ journey has been one of harmonising talents and uplifting spirits.
In his native Netherlands, he pursued studies in Singing and Music Teaching at the prestigious Conservatorium of Arnhem.
For over a decade, Hans dedicatedly balanced his career as a professional choir singer with nurturing the musical aspirations of children. This devotion to education led him to a significant role as a Music Professor at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. During his tenure, he emerged as an educational innovator, recognized for his transformative contributions. Even post-retirement, Hans as one of our board of advisors has continued to offer his expertise, driven by a profound desire to make a difference.
Hans’ connection with the refugee cause led him to the heart of the Kakuma Refugee Camp, not once but several times during HU team mission in Kakuma. He channelled his passion for education into a tangible impact by assisting in ICT-infused teacher training courses. Beyond that, his vision extended to supporting the establishment of our very first structure in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, the so-called Wings to Fly Initiative Community Learning Center Today, which he funded. Hans’ unwavering support has been the cornerstone of our BRISLA program, where our dedicated volunteers, despite personal sacrifices, exemplify commitment by teaching tirelessly every day with learning resources enabled through the help of Mr. Hans.
Hans exemplifies unwavering dedication, and his resolute stance on creating positive change is truly remarkable. His contributions go beyond monetary support – he embodies the spirit of our organisation and envisions a brighter future for our refugee community.
Frans – Connecting Horizons, Amplifying Impact
Frans Kriger, a visionary with an insatiable hunger for progress, is the catalyst propelling us toward new dimensions.
With a rich tapestry of experience, he has seamlessly woven together a career marked by dedication, mentorship, and innovation.
Born on April 4th, 1955, Frans is a family man, married and a proud father of two sons.
As a retired senior lecturer from the University of Applied Sciences, Frans’ imprint on education is immeasurable. His affiliation with ICEFIL (International Centre of Excellence for Innovative Learning) underlines his commitment to pioneering education methodologies.
Notably, Frans dons the hat of a manager, content creator, trainer, coach, and mentor – roles that manifest his deep investment in nurturing potential.
However, it’s Frans’ strategic acumen and expansive network that make him a potent force in our journey. His keen eye for valuable connections has led to opportunities that expand our wings and amplify our impact. His association with WFI comes from a profound belief in transformation, not merely on a small scale but within entire communities.
Together, Hans and Frans epitomise the essence of our Wings to Fly Initiative. Their diverse expertise, genuine dedication, and remarkable generosity have already catalysed our progress. Their inclusion on our board of advisors marks a significant chapter in our journey, reflecting their commitment to our vision and the empowerment of our refugee community.
